Could Target get any cooler?

Just when you thought Target couldn’t get any cooler it did. They now carry famed Brit make-up artist Jemma Kidd’s products. I haven’t had a chance to play with all of Kidd products they carry,but the one I did get was good enough to write about.

May I introduce you Manquin Skin $24.99 ( pic below). One question I get all of the time is ” How do you find this stuff?” Well, Jemma Kidd also came out with a make-up book ( pic below) that is really good! I say really good because the looks within are doable, she hits on all the hot topics like contouring, make-up based on skin type and here is the Money part…….. In the back of the book she tells you exactly what all of her favorite products are. I don’t know about you, but when I saw that I heard the choir in heaven sing. Kevyn Aucoin’s books were great, but when he said he used a creme shadow in mauve he never told you what brand he liked:(

Back to the Manquin Skin…. I applied this over your primer and before your foundation. It gives the skin a delightful glow that you can see through foundation. Then after foundation if I have a few places on the face that need more highlight it can go right on top without clumping and blends like a dream. I’ve attached a pic below of a model that I used it on. I think you all would agree that the results are subtle, glowing, not greasy or oily looking, and most of all not glittery.

Had a fun week last week and have 2 pics to share with you. The first one is of the darling Krista Lazar who is getting married this April. She is a true testament to why you should wear your hair down for your wedding if you can. She has amazing hair!! The second shot is a test I did with phographer John Fedele. Turned out pretty cool.

I had the best weekend! I had Carrie Bitting as a bride on saturday, She and her wedding party couldn’t have been any sweeter to me. Her maid of honor had the best hair ever and she gave me complete creative freedom to do what ever I wanted. So, I had to turn her into a Grecian beauty. So fun! Here are a couple pics of the grecian and the darling bride. Thanks Carrie for letting me be a part of your special event! Forgive the lighting, my iphone doesn’t take the best images with bright sun.

That night I met with Laura Cady for her trial run. She and her mom were so much fun! I absolutely can’t wait for their special day. She is having a relaxed garden event so we went with a down style. I’m thinking that on the wedding day she will add a gardenia. That will be so cute!

Then on Sunday I met with Emily Pfautsch who also couldn’t have been cuter. Thought I’d share some of the images of her with you. We are thinking that for the wedding she is going to go with the down style, but since her fiance was picking her up from the trial run we threw him off with a Grace Kelly -ish bun. I love them both.Her makeup really turned out fantastic. We did a champagne shimmer lid, faded into an ash brown shimmer corner. We added a fake lash as well. After airbrushing her we filled her brow, used bronzer as blush and mixed a pink and a nude gloss to finish off the look. Thanks Emily!

I wanted to share with you some pictures of the lovely Katie Armstrong. She was married last year and her photographer Liz Sloan sent me a cd of images just recently. They were so good I had to post them. Katie was a bride from LA, we didn’t get a chance to meet for a dry run before her wedding, but it mattered naught. She knew exactly what she wanted and everything turned out really well. Thanks Katie!

Hello all. Wanted to share some pics of the gorgeous Cary Bitting who will be getting married on Feb 13, 2010. She had a vague idea of the direction she wanted to head for her trial run, but nothing set in stone. Well, I’m absolutely in love with what we ended up with. You can’t see the make-up very well because of my angle, but we did a golden smokey eye, rose cheek and a glossed lip. Thanks again Cary and I’m looking forward to doing it again in a couple of weeks!

A product I can’t live without…

Okay, those of you who know me would understand that when I say I have found a product that actually makes it into the styling bag I mean business. For me to say I can’t live without it is unfathomable. For those of you who don’t know me, allow me to explain. The equipment I carry around to make everyone gorgeous is about 90lbs. So, considering I only weigh 115 adding yet another styling product to the bag is not something that happens unless the product is worth it’s weight in gold. Let me also add that for someone who styles hair I am not a huge product person. I really use about 7 products to do all of the different hair types I come across. Well, now I use 8.

I would like to introduce you to Schwartzkopf’s” Dust It”. This is a powder that you shake into your hair that in a matter of seconds takes you from the too soft day 1 hair to perfect day 2 texture without the grease of actually not washing your hair for 2 days. This stuff is really a must! It add’s texture, thickness and hold that I only see after 1/2 a can of Aquage finishing spray at a 9 hour shoot . I have seen other companies come out with similar products, but no one has done it this well. If you would like to try one stop by the salon. I bought enough so that I will never run out.

St. Louis Magazine bridal spread

Make sure you check out the new St. louis Magazine., i’ve attached some of this images below. I was blessed to have been able to do the hair and make-up for the bridal fashion spread. The shots really turned out great and John Fedele was a treat to work with! I can’t tell you how much fun I have with these shoots. I do hope that what people get from this spread is an understanding and appreciation of how one person can assume so many different looks successfully. Our model even had short hair and usually that is even more limiting. So, what I’m trying to say is…Brides…be creative and don’t box yourselves in. There is a really good chance that there is more than one look that will work for you on your wedding day. Have fun with it!
